Antique General Electric GE Type AOU Oscillating Electric Fan

A fantastic piece of early American electrical and industrial history, this antique General Electric oscillating fan features a classic four-blade design surrounded by an open wire safety cage.

The fan retains wonderful period character, including its decorative GE center medallion, heavy metal motor housing and base, original-style identification plate, and decades of naturally developed patina.

The manufacturer’s plate identifies the unit as a General Electric alternating-current fan motor rated for approximately 110 volts and 60 cycles, with Type AOU markings.

Rather than having the polished appearance of a reproduction, this example proudly shows its age. Surface oxidation, finish wear, discoloration, scratches and paint loss contribute to its authentic industrial appearance.
